Rowan University is a public school in Glassboro, N.J., with a branch in Camden, N.J., that offers bachelor’s through doctoral programs. In 2012, Rowan introduced a School of Biomedical Sciences and opened the first new M.D.-granting medical school in New Jersey in more than 35 years, Camden-based Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, in conjunction with Cooper University Health Care. In July 2013, Rowan included what is now known as the School of Osteopathic Medicine, in Stratford, cur! rently a part of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of N! ew Jersey, making it only the second university in the nation with two medical schools. Rowan is slated to collaborate with Rutgers-Camden to create a College of Health Sciences in Camden. Recently designated by the State as only the second comprehensive public research institution in New Jersey, Rowan also includes the Rohrer College of Business and colleges of Communication and Creative Arts, Education, Engineering, Graduate and Continuing Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Performing Arts, and Science and Mathematics.
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited program in Medical Assisting or its equivalent. One (1) year of prior experience preferred. Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. The ability to work independently, excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and flexibility is required.
Responsibilities:
Provides medical assistance to physicians in the ! examination and treatment of patients.
Physical Demands: Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time. Must be able to manipulate medical supplies and equipment. Must be able to communicate will with internal and external customers, often under stressful circumstances.
