The Department of Nursing seeks two (2) Assistant Professors to support an expanding BSN major; one position requires specialization or recent experience in Adult Nursing ! . The candidate should enjoy teaching above all other aspects of academia and must bring creative pedagogy to the classroom. He or she will be asked to teach courses across the nursing curriculum. Scholarly activities that support the faculty member’s teaching and mentoring of students are especially encouraged.
These are full-time, tenure-track positions in the Georgian Court-Meridian Health School of Nursing beginning Fall Semester 2013.
Responsibilities:
Integrate the Mercy core values of respect, integrity, compassion, justice and service in all aspects of interaction.
Teach classroom and clinical undergraduate courses (12 credits each semester) in a generic BSN program using active learning strategies
Develop, implement and assess the outcomes of courses taught and make improvements..
Integrate QSEN, inter-professional and other emerging competencies into teaching and learning
Advise/mentor students.
Participate in university and school service.
! Collaborate in program development, promotion, student recruitment, leadership, and continuous program assessment and improvement.
Actively demonstrate a commitment to scholarship in nursing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Nursing required; Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field strongly preferred.
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a RN in New Jersey.
Specialization or recent experience in Adult Nursing is required (1 position) / preferred (1 position).
Experience in teaching a second specialty such as Behavioral Health or Obstetrics is preferred.
Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence at the baccalaureate level in nursing.
Ability or willingness to learn to use instructional technologies effectively is essential; familiarity with distance learning is desirable.
Commitment to active, learner centered teaching.
Experience a! ssessing learning outcomes in courses and programs.
Demonstrated expertise in nursing curricular design/assessment and BON and/or CCNE accreditation.
Commitment to and evidence of an active professional and/or scholarly research agenda.
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively.
