Minimum Requirements
Penn Medical Associates of Cherry is seeking a full time Accounts Receivable Representative to support the practice manager and physicians in fulfilling the mission of the Clinical Health Care Associates and University of Penn Health System. This will be a full time position, and business hours will be discussed at the interview. Some specific responsibilities of the position are listed below:
- Responsible for facilitating maximized revenue for the practice by managing strategies to collect monies from third party payers.
- Efficiently and effectively manages their Accounts Receivable using PCS Workfiles.
- Completes a minimum of 250 A/R workfiles weekly (average 50 per day)
- Proactively works with co-workers to collect on monies due as part of patient responsibility.
- Reviews and completes bi-weekly edit and rejection reports.
- Identifies and tracks third party rejection types to determine rejection patterns.
- Reviews, processes and challenges all rejection and code changes
- Monitors changes to third party reimbursement policies and billing procedures. Informs and / or recommends changes to billing policies to CCA.
- Manages procedures to identify invoices which should be further appealed through proper channels.
- Identifies issues related to timely filing and communicates to Manager and CCA if appropriate.
- Completes Monthly AR Report and Edit / Rejection grid. Reviews with Manager on a monthly basis.
- Maintains 90 % or above accuracy in Accounts Receivable QA.
- Effectively manages balances in CCR.
- Meets regularly with Manager to review status of A/R, special projects, and problematic or unusual accounts.
- Reviews Indicator and Productivity Reports with manager and identifies areas for improvement.
- Reviews and provides chart documentation as needed for claim processing and payment.
A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or healthcare administration strongly preferred. Demonstrated course work in Medical Terminology is desirable. Minimum of 4 to 6 years of progressively responsible positions in physician billing operations and accounts receivable. Specific knowledge of third party billing and claims processing procedures preferred. Experience in the insurance/HMO industry or in an academic medical center highly preferred. General knowledge of insurance company/HMO procedures and the dynamics of health care systems. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. A working knowledge of a physician billing system is a plus.
Positions requires superior initiative, judgment, and creative ability to fulfill responsibilities. Proven analytical and organizational ability as well as highly professional written and verbal communications skills. Proven ability to work with minimal supervision at a high level of productivity. Must have ability to work with scheduled deadlines and perform various duties. Must be flexible, articulate, and highly organized. Strong customer service skills/good interpersonal skills.
