The Head Nurse/Nurse Manager under the guidance of the Director of Clinical Services is responsible and accountable for the coordination, direction, orga! nization, evaluation of patient care, and human resources for the assigned unit (s) for all operating hours. The Head Nurse will carry out duties as assigned in accordance with company policy, while maintaining the standards of the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act and may assume administrative and clinical responsibility for the Nursing Department in the absence of the Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Recruitment and retention of qualified nursing and nursing support staff.
Quality Assurance and evaluation of Nursing program.
Evaluate the progress, strengths and weaknesses of the various clinical programs.
Attend and participate in conferences, meetings, workshops and seminars related to clinical matters.
Coordinate activities with other community health care agencies.
Convene monthly staff meetings.
Inventory and maintain medical supplies.
Performs those duties in compliance wit! h JCAHO and HIPAA standards and requirements and insures that ! direct staff are properly trained and adhere to compliance requirements
Assist State and Region II officials in the review of records to determine compliance to funding and licensure standards as assigned by the CEO, COO or CMO
Perform related tasks as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
The Adult Medicine Nurse Manager may be required to perform other duties as assigned or when necessary if such work becomes a permanent and regular part of the job a new job description will be prepared.
Requirements
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- Minimum 1 year supervisory, or managerial experience in a clinical setting
- Staff, unit or charge nurse background preferred but not mandatory
Graduate OF an accredited school of Nursing, AAS accepted, BSN/MSN preferred.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: Valid New Jersey R.N. License! . BCLS, IV certificate preferred.
Previous Work Experience:
At least one (1) year adult medical/surgical experience required and/or minimum of (2) years in clinical specialty area (Pediatric, Obstetric, Gynecology) or demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience of one (1) year or more. Public Health Nursing experiences a plus.
Specific Skills or Knowledge:
Must be familiar with and willing to comply with training and enforcement requirements for JCAHO
Must be familiar with and willing to comply with training and enforcement requirements for HIPAA
Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of MS Word, Windows, and Excel
Must possess strong communication skills both written and verbal
