Over 30 years ago, the Neighborhood Health Services Corporation, previously known as the Plainfield Health Center, was born under the auspices of the 1960's Model Cities Neighborhood Program. Led by a dedicated group of community activists, the Center was initially created to provide accessible health care to the underserved residents of the West End of Plainfield.
Over the years, the Neighborhood Health Services Corporation grew and added more services, increasing the number of specialties of professional health staff to care for a growing patient population. Additionally, the Neighborhood Health Services Corporation has expanded its reach to the entire City of Plainfield, the City of Elizabeth, Newton, Phillipsburg and neighboring communities. Today, the Neighborhood Health Services Corporation serves more than 22,000 patients of all ages annually. Its total care program provides internal medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, family planning, pediatrics, dentistry and social work support services. Additional services include HIV/AIDS treatment and therapy, nutritional counseling, and outreach services. The "well baby clinic" of more than 30 years ago has expanded to a comprehensive parental care program, which provides a full scope of on-site prenatal and support services.
We have a great opportunity for a balanced, take charge Nurse Manager who leads with finesse. This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing patient care for the Adult Medicine Department under the guidance of the Clinical Services Director, and will maintain the standards of the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act. Responsibilities will include Quality Assurance, recruitment and retention of qualified nursing and nursing support staff, maintenance of medical supplies inventory, and performance of duties in compliance with JCAHO and HIPAA standards.
Position Qualifications :
A Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing is required. AAS accepted, BSN/MSN preferred. At least one (1) year adult medical/surgical experience required and/or minimum of (2) years in clinical specialty area (Pediatric, Obstetric, Gynecology) or demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience of one (1) year or more. Public Health Nursing experience is a plus. Must be familiar with and willing to comply with training and enforcement requirements for JCAHO
Must be familiar with and willing to comply with training and enforcement requirements for HIPAA
Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of MS Word, Windows, and Excel
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for success in this role. Additionally, the ability to mentor staff and team-building skills are a must.
