The Director, Purchasing will establish processes and systems to integrate Purchasing activities in the USA , as well as obtain highest possible purchasing value (quality / price / lead time / supply continuity) for inventory and non-inventory goods and services.
Main Tasks:
1. Is responsible to develop a strategic Purchasing Function within Ferring USA , aligned on the Company’s Business Plan, in order to provide Ferring USA with a competitive advantage in terms of sales, costs, working capital, risk management and innovation
2. In alignment with the Global Purchasing strategy, establish the Ferring US Purchasing Strategy
Continuously identify margin improvement / risk mitigation opportunities through financial and spend analyses and interactive communication with internal stakeholders
Develop and ensure execution of spend category strategies and related project portfolio
3. Drive the creation of the purchasing project portfolio in Ferring USA and lead purchasing projects having a strong business impact
4. Lead and manage the Ferring US Purchasing Team
Lead a team of Buyers within the local US Purchasing Groups
Develop and maintain a culture of performance in the Purchasing function, resulting in continuous improvement of costs and customer service level
Manage and develop people within the Department in line with the Ferring Philosophy: clarify responsibilities; communicate and enforce values, recruit, set annual objectives, train, coach, appraise performance, review job contribution; propose compensation
5. Lead the organization of Purchasing throughout Ferring USA - Manage quality and performance
Build and implement robust purchasing processes in line with Ferring Global Purchasing Practices
Align the Ferring US Purchasing Policy on the Corporate Purchasing Guideline and implement the adapted local SOP (e.g. sourcing, supplier relationship management, procure-to-pay,…)
Track and report purchasing KPI’s to Management on a monthly basis (cost savings, cost avoidance)
6. Drive Supplier Relationship Management
In alignment with Global Purchasing, establish the governance process to segment the portfolio of suppliers, to analyze and mitigate supply risks, manage supplier performance, set-up partnership programs to continuously improve supply processes, reduce TCO and stimulate innovation
Administer the list of key suppliers within Ferring USA
Search for new reliable and/or alternative suppliers: review supplier proposals, negotiate commercial and delivery conditions, select suppliers, negotiate and award contract
Qualifications:
- A Bachelors degree is required with a minimum 10 years experience in purchasing and contract management in pharmaceutical industry, out of which 5 years in a Manager level position:
- Ability to represent Ferring’s interests to outside professionals and suppliers
- Strong negotiation skills
- Decision making ability to purchase goods or services in alignment with the objectives of the supported organizations
- Comprehensive understanding of purchasing processes and knowledge of best practices for sourcing, supplier management and procure-to-pay
- Strong analytical skills to identify savings opportunities
- Experience of Project Management in a complex scope
- Proven success as a team builder, developer and motivator
- Self-starter, team player, effective leader and keen on working in cross-cultural working environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Results oriented, continuous improvement mindset
